Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Sunday 15th August

The Pages Are Onto The Cake!

I was able to meet up with my two brothers and we were talking about old times. As
children there was a party in the Parish hall. You were expected to start with
sandwiches before you went onto the cakes. One little girl put her hand up and
exclaimed “Please Miss, the Pages are onto the cake!”

Hopefully by now you have been able to see more of your family. Facetime with family is not the same thing. Thank God we at least have the technology but still we look forward to actually
meeting up.

I belong to a Priests support group that normally meets overnight once a
month. These meetings have been taking place on Zoom but last week nine of us met
up for a meal. All but one live on our own so the meetings are a lifeline. Because over
the years we know each other the group can call us to account. They have certainly
come to my rescue at times when I have been struggling. And hopefully this is what
family is for.

Obviously this doesn’t work for everyone and that is a great sadness. But
when it does work we bring blessings to one another. My family know me and they
know my story. And they can remember.
