Little Church
Liturgical enviroment (flowers,themed displays)
Aims of the Group
The group organises the lituragy in advance to ensure that all aspects are appropriate to the theme of the Mass, and are open and welcoming to the whole parish community.
Everyone involved in these ministries is invited to join the meetings on the second Monday of each month in the church room at:-
7.00-7.45pm youth liturgy planning
8.00pm-9.00pm liturgy group
Ministers of Communion
A team of parishoners assists the priest at each weekend Mass in the distribution of Holy Communion.
An annual training/renewal day is arranged for new & existing ministers. A Service of Commissioning is held every year.
Ministers of the Word
An introductionary session is attended by all new Ministers. Thereafter, an annual Day of Renewal is arranged. Younger Ministers have an adult mentor to guide and develop a clear reading style as needed.
Musicians
We use a variety of musical styles to fit the theme of the Mass and available musicians: organ, folk, and children's praise. All musicians of any age or ability are encouraged to take part, and our small choir always appreciates new voices.
We are keen to use our new sound system to its full potential, and aim to introduce new praise to our already wide repertoire of hymns.
Altar Servers
Our MC arranges taster sessions and training for those interested in this ministry. Regular servers have the opportunity to work towards becoming members of the Guild of St. Stephen ( patron Saint of Altar Servers ).
This ministry is not just for children. Everyone, male or female, young and not so young, ALL are welcome!
Little Church
As the name suggests, this is a regular group that invites all children to enjoy their own liturgy in the church room during the first part of the Mass.We enable the children to participate more fully in the liturgy of the word at a level they can understand. A simple pictorial display of the theme of the Gospel is prepared and completed by them to present at the Offertory when we return to the main Mass. Activities and games are usally organised after Mass to enable children to socialise while parents enjoy a cup of coffee or tea.
Sacraments
Reconciliation- Available Friday and Saturday evening during holy hour. Holy Hour starts on Friday at 6.00pm and on saturday at 4.30pm. Mass follows soon after the Holy Hour ends. Termly children's sessions are organised at times that are convenient for the families.
First holy communion-courses are organised annually.
Confirmation-preparation is arranged as required. Next course starts in January 2009.
Youth liturgy
Our youth (Extremely Jolly OLLI's) plan all aspects of a themed youth Mass at least once a term, leading us in joyfull, exciting worship. They also help in the planning of the major celebrations of the Church's year. The youth room recently has been transformed with murals depicting symbols and themes from the bible, providing a place to chill out and socialise.
If you would like to take part then contact , Fr Aidan.
Liturgical environment(flowers, themed displays etc)
Displays are prepared to complement the season and theme of the Mass; Flower arrangers are always welcome to join the small team of enthusiasts. Window displays of bibical art are designed and prepared by the parish children and youth for special seasons of the year.
