Legion of Mary
The Legion of Mary is a group of committed Catholics who are willing to be used by the Parish Priest for any apostolic work he wishes them to do.
They meet every week to pray, to report on work done during the week and to prepare for work allocated for the week ahead. They study the Legion Handbook which contains detailed guidelines on how they can take part in Mary's work of bringing Christ into the lives of others and of being at the service of all who are in need.
They are regularly called on to visit the sick and the housebound; often going even to those of no particular faith. They may be asked to issue invitations to join our ALPHA course in the autumn or to take part in any church sponsored event. A particular feature of the Legion is that it is not concerned about visible results. The aim is to see Christ in everyone and treat them accordingly.
During last year, one ex-member died (RIP) and one member has had to step down. At the moment we have five active members but we would be delighted to welcome others, male or female, who would like to take part in this great apostolate.
